Email Lists and Parent Portal

The Parent Portal is an online system that allows parents to see their children's report cards, absences, schedules and teacher placement. To begin the registration process, parents MUST bring a photo ID to either JFK's office manager, Sue York, or the receptionist at the school district's main office.

Helen Keller Presentation

Historical Perspectives visited JFK to educate students about Helen Keller. This actress showed students how Helen overcame her disabilities of being blind, deaf, and mute.

Minnesota Vikings Visit JFK

The Minnesota Dairy Council and the Minnesota Vikings teamed up to launch a fitness campaign called, "Fuel Up, Eat Right, and Get Movin!". Their first stop to visit 80 schools in Minnesota was at JFK Elementary. Students decorated the gym and donned their purple attire to welcome the Vikings that day. Fox 9 News was there broadcasting the event and aired the show on its Sunday Morning Viking Replay broadcast.

Online Lunch Account Payment System

To create your account and begin using the system, please go to www.paypams.com.

The system features:

  • The ability for parents to go online and view their student's spending history. (Requires account sign up, but you do not need to make online payments to utilize this feature).
  • An email service for all online users which will email low balance announcements in time to replenish a student's account in a timely manner.

School Hours

Classes begin at 9:25 a.m. and students are dismissed at 3:55 p.m. All students not riding the bus must be picked up by 4:00 p.m. Our school is open to students when the first bell rings at 9:17 a.m. Students should not be dropped off before 9:17 a.m. Please make it a priority to have your child attend school every day and be on time. Morning Kindergarten dismisses at 11:57 a.m. Afternoon Kindergarten begins at 1:23 p.m.

Immunization Requirements

The Minnesota Department of Health has updated its list of required immunizations for students. Please check the list of required immunizations to make sure that your child will be ready for school next fall. Additional information about immunizations, and translations into other languages can be found on the MN Dept of Health web site.

School Closing procedures

In the event of bad weather, information about school closings and delays will be promptly communicated to the following radio and television stations:

  • WCCO-AM (830/Channel 4)
  • KSTP-TV (Channel 5)
  • KMSP-FOX (Channel 9)
  • KARE-TV (Channel 11)

About Our School

John F. Kennedy Elementary School is one of fourteen schools (nine elementary) that make up Independent School District #194, Lakeville, Minnesota. The school is located in the southern part of this Minneapolis suburb and services over 580 children in a kindergarten through fifth grade setting. The school prides itself in having high expectations for all children, offering a number of academic and extra curricular before and after school programs.
